Protectograph (on display at Rewind Kingston)
A look back at one of this project's solo exhibits…
From August 15th though September 1st, Adam Snyder’s Protectograph was on display at Rewind Kingston — an emporium of curated thrift, vintage, and upcycled clothing, art, novelties, and more in midtown Kingston (NY). Our thanks to Rewind Kingston’s Joanne Flood.
Adam Snyder’s PROTECTOGRAPH is (according to Josh Glenn’s object-meaning typology) an “idol.” An object of intense contemplation.
The Protectograph fit right in with the compasses, containers, 50-year calendars and other objects of mystery. It did not matter that I had no idea what it was manufactured for. Its purpose was to be present as a totem object whenever my gaze should happen upon it. ‘I am as strangely out-of-place in this century as you are.’ [note the author’s imprecise use of the term ‘totem.’]
Stay tuned! We will announce the most persuasive response to this object soon…
