Stories + Responses
Welcome!
We’ve invited 11 interesting Hudson Valley residents to share personal stories about a significant object each of them might give up… if only someone could persuade them to do so. We’ll need your help to make our experiment a success. Here’s how:
Read one or more of the true stories linked to on this page.
Help an object’s owner… give it up! Use the response link on any story’s page to propose what the story teller might do with their object. Perhaps you’d like to own it? Do you have an object story of your own? We’re open to any approach.
Follow along — via our newsletter, and/or Instagram — to find out which responses proved the most persuasive. On Sept. 10th (from 6–9 pm), the most persuasive responses will be announced live at the project’s Camp Kingston wrap-up event / reading.
Drew Broussard’s WOODEN SCIMITAR
Karlie Flood’s BROKEN BARRETTE
Will Hermes’ HUMILITY PLAQUE
Maggie Inge’s EVENING BAG
Halimah Marcus’ NYC BICYCLE
Annie Nocenti’s THUMB-PUMP OILER
Julian Richards’ UNDEVELOPED FILM
Samuel Shapiro’s BIRCH BARK
Adam Snyder’s PROTECTOGRAPH

Adriana Wong’s LOVE-LOST NECKLACE
The objects will be on display in solo exhibits around Kingston (NY) from August 15 – September 1; and they’ll be in a group exhibit from September 3 – 10.
Please join us September 10 (from 6–9 pm), for a celebratory project wrap-up event / reading at Camp Kingston… at which time we’ll announce which responses proved the most persuasive!
